My first project was a sofa table in Provence and it was instant love!
Here it is:
It was so easy! I painted the whole table in about a half an hour! No sanding no priming just slap that stuff on there! Its so easy a caveman can do it. You put wax on it to seal it and that needs to set for 24hours. Then if you like you can sand as much as you want to make it look more aged. Maybe by the time I am older the cool thing will be to look aged yourself. Then all the time spent in the tanning bed will not be a loss!
That was the tip of the iceberg with the chalk paint. Next came a huge project. This one I waited to do until Jayke went off to the hunting shack....I took on our kitchen cabinets. Every man in America that is reading this (which isn't any I'm sure:) might want to look away. I have oak cabinets. They are beautiful...and boring as hell. Sooooo in comes Heidi with a paintbrush and some wine to reinvent my kitchen! Here are the before and after:
These colors are pure white and duck egg blue.
Of course who would stop at that? I was just getting warmed up. I also did the barstools blue and added white and painted an electric fireplace that I added to the kitchen. I found some ugly old frames from savers that I painted and added fabric to the back
Then the madness continued. We discovered a few little independent shops in Hermantown. The Broken Broom, Golly G's and The Open Window. These shops are run by my kinda people! They are so creative and inspiring. I ended up getting two solid little tables to use as nightstands a really cool mirror and the gem of all gems... a refinished Hosier Cabinet reduced from $279 to $100! my friend Michelle and I literally did a victory dance and celebrated at Red Lobster!
The Truth is old furniture is made so much stronger and more sturdy than the crap you find today. With a little paint and elbow grease you can turn a $30 table into something amazing! Not even kidding! Here's a few more pics:
